Young Adults ‘23
In 2015, VOX magazine carried out an extensive piece of research exploring the experiences and opinions of millennials in the church. Now in partnership with Praxis and Tearfund Ireland, VOX has launched a new survey “Young Adults ‘23” - a chance for young people to have their say about what really matters about faith and the real issues that are shaping our society.
What do young adults (aged 18 - 40) across Ireland think about faith and life? Why have some young adults left the church? Why are others passionate about their faith? What is most important to this generation? These are important questions, and there is a lot of talk about what young adults think. But, we want to hear directly from you. What is your experience of faith and church?
Praxis and other partner organisations want to understand where young adults are coming from, your experience, what matters to you and how this could shape the church in the future. In the second section of the survey Tearfund Ireland asks for your views on Climate Change as part of a international survey of young adults.
Young Adults Survey 2015
The findings of the 2015 research were both challenging and encouraging. They gave powerful insights into how millennials view their faith and their relationship with churches across the denominational spectrum. Here are a just few of the stand out comments from that research:
“I long to see… a generation of young people passionate and sold out for Christ and changing Irish society.
“I long to see… a church in which every member is passionate for God and where we radiate the light of God unashamedly.”
“If Jesus were here now, I think He would want nothing to do with the modern church and He’d be giving a repeat performance of Matthew 23. The biggest issue is that it’s not about love anymore.”
“Ease off the religion and turn up the love. Get out of the pews and into the streets. Love people even if it hurts.”
